New Commissioner of Police, Donald N. Awunah has assumed duty in Akwa Ibom State.
Awunah, who wore black and black police uniform, arrived the force headquarters at Ikot Akpan Abia in a black Prado SUV at exactly 9:14 am and inspected the guard of honour mounted by the officers between 9:15 and 9:22am before he proceeded to his office for a brief press session with newsmen.
Donald, from Benue State is the 21st Commissioner of Police in the State and he takes over from the Katsina born Murtala Usman Mani.
Awunah, who is the immediate-past police public Relations Officer, Abuja, is a seasoned and thoroughbred officer. He has served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Homicide Section of Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (FCIID) Abuja.
He holds B.A degree in Philosophy from the University of Lagos and M.A in International Relations and Strategic Studies from Benue State University, Makurdi.
The new police boss is a Fellow of Institute of security Studies (fsi), Fellow of Institute of Corporate Administration, and Member, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
In his maiden press briefing, Don Awunah promised to work to increase the tempo of good relationship between the Police and the public in line with the policy thrust of the Nigeria Police Force.
