NOW THAT ORO UNION HAS MISFIRED

Obong Nsima Ekere
By Ofonime Honesty

Dear readers, something curious is brewing in the polity! Vitriolic discordant tunes are wafting in a region in Akwa Ibom State labeled as ‘Oro Nation.’ The tunes which started as mere whispers have now snowballed into a full blown call to arms vainly discredited by few dissenting treatises.

Using Oro Union (a socio-cultural group) as a launch-pad, the rabble rousers are shedding unceasing tears as if their lachrymal glands have burst. They are busy telling anyone who cares to listen that they are fighting against marginalization. The latest onslaught commenced in full swing when the President-General of Oro Union, Dr. Effiong Edunam declared that, “…all bondsmen must themselves strike the blow for their own freedom. If you are for Oro and you support existence with dignity, take your place in the trench. The struggle is on.” The “activists” –as they now prefer to be labeled- are hellbent in their mission. They don’t worry about whose ox is gored. To them, Oro must be “redeemed”. The end shall justify the means, they reason.

Baring my mind in the words of Edmund Burke “it is not what a lawyer tells me I may do; but what humanity, reason and justice tell me I ought to do.
Indeed, they exists a circle of absolute power corruption and impunity that is quite expensive to ignore.

The lingering revelations, antics and unpleasant development trailing the traditional Rulers Council of OrukAnam Local Government Area in AkwaIbom State has revealed clearly that all is not in its right proportion, shape and frame.

As a radical thinker and concerned citizen in the business of minding other peoples business, who have heard, observed and watched the ugly situation keep breaking into abominable moments, cracks into shattered particles capable of plucking our eyes, I can no longer hold my silenced.

‘Ekere Afia is a desperate land-grabber’- A’Ibom Community groans as demolition renders them homeless

BY OFONIME HONESTY
The recent demolition of over ten houses at Ifa Ikot Akpan Community in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State on the orders of a former member representing Uyo State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Ekere Afia, has attracted the ire of the village council and victims of the exercise, who have produced relevant documents to prove that they are the bonafide owners of the plots of land.
It could be recalled that on August 3rd, 2016, Hon. Ekere Afia stormed the community with bulldozers and a team of heavily armed uniformed men, ordering the demolition of the houses on grounds that they were built on a land he purchased in 2014.

However, the village council and victims have refuted such claims, saying they have never done any financial transaction with Ekere Afia.

SHOCKER! Eden Hazard says Diego Costa isn't intelligent

Eden Hazard is one of the Premier League’s most outspoken players and now he is firing shots at his teammates.

Speaking to the Mirror (UK) in an interview at a Topps Match Attax event, the Chelsea no.10 took on the “Team Mates” challenge. He was asked to name the team mate who is fastest, slowest, angriest, funniest and more.

Diego Costa was named as the ‘loudest’ and ‘least intelligent’ of all the footballers he’s played with. Romelu Lukakau, somewhat surprisingly, is the fastest. Less surprisingly, John Terry is the slowest (along with Cesc Fabregas). Branislav Ivanovic must be getting on Hazard’s nerves in training as he was called ‘biggest moaner’ and ‘worst temper’. “Sometimes he’s crazy,” says Hazard. Do you agree with Eden Hazard’s assessments?
