EMEM AKPAN INSTALLED AS POLITICAL LEADER OF ASUTAN WARD 2

Emem Akpan being presented to Asutan II

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mr. Emem Akpan has been officially enthroned as the political leader of Asutan Ward II in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area.

The event which was held over the weekend at Ikot Nko community was graced by PDP faithful, traditional rulers, women/ youth groups as well as friends and associates of the political leader.

Presenting the political leader to the party, ward chairman of PDP in Asutan II, Pastor Bassey Akpan, described Mr. Emem Akpan as a trusted and credible person who will steer the affairs of the party diligently.

Pastor Akpan, who was represented by the vice chairman, Mr. Ime Udott, disclosed that Emem Akpan emerged via a democratic process and assured the people of a purpose-driven leadership.

Presenting the political leader to the people, Pastor Bassey Akpan implored them to be ready for a new dawn because the era of imposition and impunity has expired. He urged the people to give unflinching support to the political leader.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Emem Akpan thanked the party for the confidence reposed in him and promised to perform magnificently.

He sued for unity in the ward, saying he is ready to extend an olive branch to everyone in the PDP family.

In his speech, the Chairman of Ibesikpo Asutan Transition Committee,   Barr. Ukana Udofia,   hailed the emergence of the political leader labeling it as a step in the right direction in the quest of consolidating PDP’s landslide support in the area.     

The council boss represented by Hon. Obot Silas, who is a member of the caretaker committee, implored the people of Asutan II to remain committed to the PDP.

Speaking on behalf of the women, the woman leader of PDP in the area, Mrs. Ime Orok while assuring the political leader of the unflinching support of the women folk, urged him to eschew nepotism throughout his reign as political leader.

On his part, the village head of Ikot Nko, Eteidung Effiong Nathaniel, labeled the political leader as a true son of the soil whose pedigree is not in doubt. He pronounced blessings on him and promised him the support of the traditional institution.

In their separate speeches, former member of Ibesikpo Asutan Caretaker Committee, Hon. Victor Obot; former ward chairman, Ime Asuquo Etim; former councilor in Ward II, Hon. Jackson Uyoe, poured encomiums on the political leader and charged him to be alive to his responsibilities.

Speaking on the sidelines, a political chieftain in the area, Mr. Ernest Akpan, expressed delight over the success of the event and noted that having known the political leader as a hardworking servant of the PDP, he would mastermind gargantuan successes in the ward.

Speaking with journalists after the event, the political leader attributed his emergence to God, adding that it is a confirmation of the love and trust which his people have him in him.

He promised to redeem the ward by offering impactful leadership as well as ensuring that villages in the ward are connected to the national grid.

Mr. Emem Akpan particularly thanked the political leader of Uyo Federal Constituency, Prince Uwem Ita Etuk, for being a pillar of support to Asutan Ward II.
