Aguero, Fernadinho see red as Chelsea demolish City to extend lead on EPL table

Chelsea are now four points clear at the top of the Premier League after beating nine-man Manchester City 3-1 at the Etihad.
City took the lead through a Gary Cahill own goal before the visitors hit back in the second half through Diego Costa, Willian and Eden Hazard. To compound the misery of Pep Guardiola and his side, Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho were both sent off at the death and will now serve bans.

For Chelsea, it is now eight wins in a row as they further underlined their title credentials under Antonio Conte. The hosts started better and deservedly took the lead on the stroke of half-time with Cahill putting the ball into his own net from a Jesus Navas cross. The pivotal moment of the game came in the second half when Kevin De Bruyne somehow managed to miss an open goal on 57 minutes, as he struck the bar when it looked easier to score.

Three minutes later Chelsea went down the other end and levelled through Costa after the forward was picked out by a brilliant ball from Cesc Fabregas, with the Spain international shrugging off Nicolas Otamendi and firing home.

Chelsea took the lead 10 minutes later through a lightening counter-attack that saw Willian played through and he showed great skill to hold off the defence and fire across Claudio Bravo into the bottom corner. Conte's men were too much to handle on the break again when Hazard put Chelsea 3-1 up in the 90th minute when the Belgium star outpaced Aleksandar Kolarov and made no mistake with his finish.

The game ended with ugly scenes when City picked up two red card deep into stoppage time. Firstly, Aguero was shown a straight red for a high tackle on David Luiz. A brawl ensued and Fernandinho was given his marching orders after repeatedly pushing Fabregas, which eventually saw the Chelsea man go over the advertising hoardings, as City ended the match with nine men.
