The National Judicial Council (NJC) has said Justice Okon Abang did no wrong in his rulings in the June 27 judgement against the Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.
According to the council, Abang’s decision to endorse the Ali Modu Sheriff faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was also not wrong.
The council said it didn’t find any proof of wrongdoing or misconduct in its letters to four separate petitioners.
One of the petitioners, Ayodele Ibini, a factional secretary of the PDP from Ondo State, had asked the NJC to investigate the judge for alleged judicial misconduct in the June 29 ruling where Mr. Sheriff was recognised as authentic PDP chairman.
Three other petitioners had also questioned Justice Abang’s ruling on the Abia governorship tussle.
The council dismissed all four petitions for lack of evidences.
Abang had nullified the PDP convention that produced Ahmed Makarfi as factional chairman of the party.
He had also sacked Okezie Ikpeazu as governor of Abia State and ordered INEC to issue certificate of return to Samson Ogah.
