Muslim
faithful in Akwa Ibom State have been implored to imbue the virtues of
obedience and unreserved loyalty to Allah.
The charge
was haned down by the Chief Imam of Akwa Ibom State, Imam Mohammed Adamu, in his
sermon during the service to mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir (Sallah) in Uyo, the
Akwa Ibom State capital.
The cleric,
who implored his brethren to emulate Abraham, who did not complain when God told
him sacrifice his only son, Ishmael.
The Imam
posited that it behooves on believers to keep God’s commandments saying such
attitude leads to redemption.
Speaking
with journalists after the service, the cleric maintained that muslims use the event
to reaffirm their pledge of loyalty to Allah.
Also
speaking, the Leader of the Hausa Community in Akwa Ibom State, Alhaji Hassan
Sadauki, corroborated the Imam’s view, and added that the event has further
solidified their trust and allegiance to Allah.
The event
climaxed with the slaughtering of rams.
