Women Affairs Commissioner rates NUJ Chairman High

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Dr. Glory Edet has described the leadership of the Akwa Ibom State Chairman of NUJ Elder Patrick Albert as one which revolves around vision and commitment to selfless service.
Dr. Edet who stated this yesterday when the leadership of Akwa Ibom State Council of NUJ paid a courtesy call on her noted that having been a Keen follower of the activities of the Council, she was pleased not just with the infrastructural strides recorded by the Union but the soaring image it now has under the leadership of Patrick Albert.

While describing Patrick Albert as a vibrant leader, she expressed optimism that the new leadership will not only perform impressively but will maintain its image and perform its role towards what she described as a greater Akwa Ibom.
She added" I am impressed with the development i have seen in NUJ and the soaring image your Union now have courtesy of Patrick Albert's leadership. All you have to do now is to cooperate. Leadership entails working together. And this leadership must also streamline those who want to drag your soaring reputation to the gutter. Journalism is a respected profession and should be guarded to remain so".
The Commissioner pointed out that her Ministry is ready to support and partner with the Union to achieve its goals.
Earlier, the Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists, Elder Patrick Albert noted that the visit stemmed from a bid to strengthen the partnership between the Union and the Ministry since NUJ is concerned about fostering socio-economic and political renaissance among the people, elites, public officers and politicians in the current efforts to shape up Akwa Ibom State as a global city.
He pointed out that for the Union to live up to its responsibilities there is need for it to be supported thus enjoined the Ministry to support ongoing development of the NUJ Press Centre and the forthcoming 2016 Press Week while also presenting to her a letter for sponsorship of one of the 2016 Press Week awards.
He added "As the Fourth Estate of the Realm and as the society’s watchdog, we are disposed to utilising the enormous powers that we wield to advance the development of the State and the Nation. We need sponsorship to host training and retraining of our members.
"These courses and envisaged programmes are aimed at making our members to be ethically conscious and compliant to the rule of practice. As could be agreed, Journalism entails a high degree of public trust and to earn and maintain this trust, it is morally imperative for every journalist and every news medium to observe the highest professional and ethical standard".
