A former Coordinator, United Nations Development Programme, UNDP, and retired Permanent Secretary in the state, Sir. Dr. Val Attah was named the Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, while a former Minister of Lands and Housing, Mrs. Akon Eyakenyi heads the governing council of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua.
Also making the list include a former Head of Service, Chief Sunny
Akpadiaha, who is the new Chairman, State Civil Service Commission, while
Bishop Andrew Uwanta has been named the Chairman, House of Assembly
Service Commission.
Barr. Comfort Etuk is the Chairman, State Technical Schools Board, Hon. Imo Udobia heads the State Secondary Education Board, while Prof. Maria Ikorok is to take over the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB as Chairman.
Prof. Mrs. Regina Godwin Ikpatt has been named the Chairman, Governing Council of Akwa Ibom State College of Education,Afaha Nsit. A press statement issued by the Secretary to the state government, Mr. Etekamba Umoren ,Wednesday indicated that their appointment takes effect immediately.
Meanwhile, the Chairmanship as well as membership of boards of the state polytechnic and the College of Education are to be on part time basis, while the rest are full time appointment.
The appointment of the Chairmen and members of the various boards and Commission in the state by Governor Udom Emmanuel which came about a year and four months after he assumed office has been described by some members of the public as a welcome development.
