Attorney General, PDP suffering from guilty conscience - Chief Iyanam

The recent allegation of witch-hunting peddled by the Peoples Democratic Party and Attorney General of Akwa Ibom State, Barr. Uwemedimo Nwoko, against President Muhammadu Buhari and the Department of State Security (DSS), has met the condemnation of a former Attorney General of the state, Chief Victor Iyanam, who has suggested they “PDP is crying more than the bereaved”, that  “Nwoko sounded as someone who is suffering from guilty conscience.”

On the heels of the arrest of Supreme Court judges by DSS, Barr. Nwoko in a Radio interview accused the agency of being used by the presidency as a tool of victimization of the opposition. While asserting that “Buhari’s administration has gone into the realm of madness”, Nwoko urged the president to either resign or be impeached by the National Assembly.

The PDP in Akwa Ibom described the arrest as a “flagrant display of military action in a democratic dispensation."
Airing his view on Team Nigeria - a Radio interview programme anchored by ace broadcaster Aniekan Udosen - Chief  Iyanam said the DSS acted within the law, that the Administration of Justice Act empowers security agents to conduct searches anytime -day or night- and even on weekends.

Chief Iyanam observed that Nwoko was expressing emotions instead of talking Law, that the fact that none of the judges involved has denied the evidence procured during the raid gives credence to the indictment by the agency.

While accusing the PDP of acting suspiciously, Iyanam said Nwoko’s action is unworthy of his office, that he overstepped the boundaries of decency by abusing the president.

Chief Iyanam was joined on the programme by Barr. Imoh Akpan and Barr. James Ndem.

Barr. Akpan described Nwoko’s outburst as undignifying, warning him not to magnify the issue by politicizing it.

On his part, Barr. Ndem urged the judiciary to live up to its billings as the last hope of the common man and urged the vilification of President Buhari and DSS to cease.
