The newly constituted executive committee of the Interparty
Advisory Council (IPAC) in Akwa Ibom State led by Hon. Martins Inyang has held
her inaugural meeting where a Technical Working Committee and Ethics,
Discipline and Special Purpose Committee were inaugurated.
The event which was held at secretariat of the Independent
National Electoral Commission (INEC) was attended by IPAC members and INEC
representative.
Declaring the meeting open, the Chairman, Hon. Martins
Inyang, expressed appreciation to members for unanimously electing him and
promised not to betray the confidence reposed on him.
While disclosing that IPAC will soon be constituted at the
Local Government level, he solicited for cooperation within the fold.
In the poll conducted to fill in vacant positions in the Technical
Working Committee, Comrade Utip Etiebet of Labour Party emerged as Chairman
while Hon. Ekomobong Akan of Alliance for Democracy emerged as Secretary.
Friday Nkanta of ACPN, Joseph Bassey of PPC, Raphael Uko of UPN and Emmanuel
Afia of PDM were elected as members.
An Ethics, Discipline and Special Purpose Committee was also
inaugurated. The committee has Elder Andy Oduobuk as Chairman while Barr. Mfon
Peter is Secretary. Mr. Ubong John and Joseph Bassey were nominated and
approved to join the committee as members.
In his speech, the INEC representative, Mr. Enwang Inyang, lauded
IPAC for the successful election which produced Martins Inyang as Chairman and
members of the newly constituted exco to work assiduously towards taking IPAC
to greater heights.
He implored chairmen of respective political parties to
partake in massive voters’ enlightenment and recruit new members to boost their
(parties) chances of being politically relevant.
The Special Assistant to Governor on Interparty Affairs, Hon.
Lawrence Udoh, equally advised IPAC members to be alive to their responsibilities
even as he assured them of government’s continued support.
